A journey from the mega diverse Amazon basin to the Andean highlands of Peru. Discover this biodiverse sanctuary of Tambopata National Reserve, which provides a variety of water and on land adventures that initiate you into the superb magnificence of the Southern Amazon rain forest. From strolling under the rooftop of trees, spotting birds, insects and wild animals that are habitants to spectacular wilderness. From the Amazon to the Andes find yourself in Cusco. Once the heart of the great Inca empire and is now a fascinating blend of 16th century European architecture and the legacy of the Incas. Away from the city the Sacred Valley, ringed by snowcapped peaks is still inhabited by the ancestors of those who built its many temples and palaces, and beyond the valley Machu Picchu lies surrounded by the tropical forests that hid it for five centuries. From there you head south to the sacred shores of Lake Titicaca, with its remote islands, living culture and fascinating archaeological remains.

1. Day 1: Arrive Lima. Transfer to hotel. Overnight Lima
2. Day 2: Flight Lima/Amazon. First of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Overnight Jungle Lodge.
3. Day 3: Second of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Overnight Jungle Lodge.
4. Day 4: Third of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Flight to Cusco. Free time. Overnight Cusco.
5. Day 5: Morning free. Afternoon city tour. Overnight Cusco.
6. Day 6: Sacred Valley tour. Overnight Sacred Valley.
7. Day 7: Morning train to Machupicchu. Private guided tour of Machupicchu. Overnight Aguas Calientes
8. Day 8: Morning free. Afternoon return Vistadome train to Poroy/Cusco. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight Cusco.
9. Day 9: Andean Explorer train operated by Orient Express to Puno. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight Puno
10. Day 10: Visit Lake Titicaca and the islands, Uros and Taquile. Overnight Puno.

Day 1 arrival Lima

Arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel. Lodging Lima. No meals included.

Day 2 Amazon Rain forest

Morning transfer to the airport. Flight Lima/ Puerto Maldonado. Transfer by boat to the jungle lodge. Free time to settle in. Lunch in main dining room. Afternoon Guided walk along the Trail Reserva Amazonica natural area. Twilight River excursion followed by cocktails and dinner. Lodging in Amazon Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

Day 3 Amazon Rain forest

Rest in bed or rise early, breakfast begins at 5:30 a.m. to avoid the heat and enjoy nature at its fullest. You will then continue on for your excursion of Sandoval Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. From there return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch – take the Canopy Walk and you have the option to extend your excursion so as to appreciate the sunset from one of the towers. Return to Lodge. Cocktails in the main dining room or during the daily nature presentation in the Eco-Media Center. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. Lodging in Amazon Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

Day 4 flight to Cusco.

After breakfast return to Puerto Maldonado, visiting the Butterfly farm along the way to the airport. Aboard your flight to Cusco. On arrival in Cusco you will be transferred to your hotel. Free time to acclimatize. Lodging Cusco, Breakfast included.

Day 5 Cusco city tour

Morning free. In the afternoon we tour Cusco. You will visit the Cathedral, Qorichancha (the temple of the sun) and the four nearby ruins Qénko, Puca Pucara and Sacsayhuaman. Lodging in Cusco. Breakfast included.

Day 6 Sacred Valley of the Incas

Day excursion to the Sacred Valley. We visit the colorful indigenous market of Pisac and in the afternoon the archeological site of Ollantaytambo. A buffet lunch is served in Urubamba. At the end of your tour you are dropped of at your Hotel. Lodging in the Sacred Valley. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 7 Machupicchu Sanctuary

Transfer to train station in Ollantaytambo for your 1 1/2 hour Vistadome train ride to Machupicchu Town (Aguas Calientes). Enjoy your 3 hour guided tour with your personal guide of the Sanctuary. Free time to explore the site yourself. Lodging in the Machupicchu Town (Aguas Calientes). Breakfast included.

Day 8 Machupicchu-Cusco

This morning is open for you to decide what you wish to do. Afternoon Vistadome train return to Poroy and transfer to your hotel. Lodging Cusco. Breakfast included.

Day 9 Train Cusco to Puno by orient express train

After breakfast transfer to the local train station of Cusco where the Andean Explorer operated by the famous Orient Express is waiting for your spectacular rail journey to Puno which is on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The glass-walled observation coach provides the perfect opportunity to view the beautiful scenery. Arrival in Puno and transfer to your hotel. Lodging in Puno, breakfast and lunch included.

Note: departures on Mon, Wed and Fri.
From April to October also on Sat. On other days this journey can be made by first class bus, visiting four sites of interest along he way.

 

Day 10 Lake Titicaca

Today we will leave for the port where a boat awaits you to visit one of the highest lakes in the world (3800 meters / 9000 feet). We will explore the floating island of Uros where you will see their typically dressed inhabitants. We continue the tour for the island of Taquile where the local people are experts in traditional weaving techniques. Return to Puno transfer to your hotel. Lodging in Puno, breakfast included.

Day 11 flight Lima

Morning transfer to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. Arrival in Lima. Leave luggage in airport storage. Transfer to city center for your guided Lima city tour. Evening return to the airport for your international flight. Breakfast included.
