Well-known as the heart of the greatest empire ever seen in the Americas and a jewel of Spanish colonial architecture, the Inca capital of Cusco is also the gateway to the most unspoiled and biodiverse place on Earth; the Amazon rainforest, with more than 15,000 species of flowering plants and a dizzying variety of endemic fauna.

 

Trip Outline:

Day 1: Arrive Lima. Transfer to hotel. Overnight Lima
Day 2: Flight Lima/Cusco. Afternoon walking tour of Cusco and visit of Sacsayhuaman. Overnight Cusco.
Day 3: Sacred Valley tour, late afternoon Vistadome train to Machupicchu. Overnight Aguas Calientes.
Day 4: Morning tour of Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Afternoon return train to Poroy/Cusco. Overnight Cusco
Day 5: First of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Overnight Jungle Lodge.
Day 6: Second of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Overnight Jungle Lodge.
Day 7: Last of three days in the Amazon Rainforest. Flight to Lima. Overnight Lima.
Day 8: Morning city tour of Lima. Afternoon international flight.

Day 1 arrival Lima

Arrival in Lima our representative will transfer you to your hotel. Lodging Lima. No meals included.

 

Day 2 Cusco - citytour

Transfer to airport in Lima, Flight Lima - Cusco. Arrival Cusco, transfer to hotel, morning free. In the afternoon walking tour with your private guide including Sacsayhuaman. Lodging in Cusco, Breakfast included.

 

Day 3 Sacred Valley

Day excursion to the Sacred Valley. We visit the colorful indigenous market of Pisac and in the afternoon the archeological site of Ollantaytambo. A buffet lunch is served in Urubamba. At the end of your tour you are dropped of at the train station in Ollantaytambo for your 1 1/2 hour Vistadome train ride to Machupicchu town. Lodging in the Machupicchu Town ( Aguas Calientes), breakfast and lunch included.

Day 4 Machu Picchu

Early morning bus to the Sanctuary for your private guided tour of the Machu Picchu. After your tour you have free time to explore this magnificent site yourself. In the afternoon we return by Vistadome train to Poroy were our representative awaits to transfer you to your hotel. Lodging in Cusco, breakfast included.

 

Day 5 Puerto Maldonado Rainforest

After Breakfast transfer to the airport for your 35 minute flight to Puerto Maldonado. Transfer by boat to the jungle lodge. A twenty minute walk from Posada Amazonas leads to the 30 meter scaffolding canopy tower with spectacular views of the vast expanses of standing forest cut by the Tambopata River winding through the middle. Now and then toucans, parrots or macaws are seen flying against the horizon, or mixed species canopy flocks land in the treetop next to you. Return to lodge for dinner and optional evening discussion. Lodging in Amazon Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

 

Day 6 Rainforest

After breakfast aboard your 30 minute boat ride to Tres Chimbadas or forty five minutes hiking from your lodge. Using a catamaran, you can paddle around searching the lakeside wildlife such as giant otters, caiman, hoatzin and horned screamers. From there you visit the Parrot Clay Lick. 20 minutes further along by boat discover Centro Ñape who have produced a trail which explains the different medicinal plants. Return to Lodge for dinner and optional night walk to spot nocturnal animals. Lodging in Amazon Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.

 

Day 7 Flight to Lima

After breakfast return by boat to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport. Flight to Lima. Transfer to your hotel. free time. Lodging Lima, Breakfast included.

 

Day 8 Lima City tour and international flight

Morning city-tour and visit of the UNESCO world heritage centre of Lima. The City Tour offers the best combination of the different attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary. During our guided tour we will travel along its millenary history. At the appropriate time transfer to the airport for the connection of your international flight.
