From the capital of the Spanish viceroys we fly to Cusco, once the capital of the Inca empire and today one of the world's most beautiful cities; the result of the imposition of a 16th century European culture upon the bronze age society of the Incas, with ancient megalithic walls supporting Spanish mansions and churches. Beyond the city the fertile Sacred Valley is studded with fascinating Inca remains and colourful local markets and is the gateway to the enigmatic ruins of Machu Picchu. From Cusco we travel to the sacred shores of Lake Titicaca, the centre of the Inca creation legend, visiting the fascinating islands of Uros and Taquile.

 

Trip outline:

1. Day 1: Arrive Lima. Transfer to hotel. Overnight Lima
2. Day 2: Flight Lima/Cusco. Afternoon walking tour with personal guide. Overnight Cusco.
3. Day 3: Sacred Valley tour, late afternoon Vistadome train to Machupicchu. Overnight Aguas Calientes.
4. Day 4: Morning private tour of Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Afternoon to Cusco. Overnight Cusco.
5. Day 5: Orient Express train Cusco to Puno. Overnight Puno.
6. Day 6: Visit Lake Titicaca and islands, Uros and Taquile. Overnight Puno.

Day 1: Arrival Lima

Arrival in Lima our representative will transfer you to your hotel. Lodging Lima. No meals included.

 

Day 2: Arrival Cusco

Transfer to airport in Lima, Flight Lima - Cusco. Arrival Cusco, transfer to hotel, morning free. In the afternoon walking tour with your personal guide including a visit of Sacsayhuaman. Lodging in Cusco, Breakfast included.

Day 3 Sacred Valley

Day excursion to the Sacred Valley. You visit the colorful indigenous market of Pisac and in the afternoon the archeological site of Ollantaytambo. A buffet lunch is served in Urubamba. At the end of your tour you are dropped of at the train station in Ollantaytambo for your 1 1/2 hour Vistadome train ride to Machupicchu town. Lodging in the Machupicchu Town (Aguas Calientes), breakfast and lunch included.

 

Day 4 Machu Picchu

Early morning bus to the Sanctuary for your private guided tour of the Machu Picchu. After your tour you have free time to explore this magnificent site yourself. In the afternoon we return by Vistadome train to Poroy were our representative awaits to transfer you to your hotel. Lodging in Cusco, breakfast included.

 

Day 5 train Cusco - Puno by orient express train

After breakfast transfer to the local train station of Cusco where the Andean Explorer operated by the famous Orient Express is waiting for your spectacular rail journey to Puno which is on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The glass-walled observation coach provides the perfect opportunity to view the beautiful scenery. Arrival in Puno and transfer to your hotel. Lodging in Puno, breakfast and lunch included.

 

Day 6 Lake Titicaca

Today we will leave for the port where a boat awaits you to visit one of the highest lakes in the world (3800 meters / 9000 feet). We will explore the floating island of Uros inhabited by traditional fisherman. We continue the tour for the island of Taquile where the local people are experts in traditional weaving techniques. Return to Puno and transfer to your hotel. Lodging in Puno, breakfast included.

 

Day 7 Flight Juliaca / Lima and Lima city tour

Morning transfer to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. Arrival in Lima. Leave luggage in airport storage. Transfer to city center for your guided Lima city tour. Evening return to the airport for your international flight. Breakfast included.
