Booking the Inca Trail

4 day Inca Trail  and 2 day Inca Trail to Machupicchu:  when to book

Ever since the UGM (Machu Picchu Managing Unit) and the National Institute of Culture limited the number of people on the Inca Trail to 500 per day (including travel agency porters, guides, and cooks). This means that approx. 200 trekkers can leave on the Inca Trail daily.  

Changed regulations require inscriptions and reservations to be made 31 days before departure. At the same time a non refundable deposit of US $ 100,- is mandatory to validate the reservation.

This means that for most operators it will be difficult to handle any requests of tourists coming to Cusco and wanting to leave within a short period.

All these changes make it essential that you book the trek for the Inca Trail well in advance. We suggest to book the Inca Trail as early as possible and in high season (April to September) to book at least three months  before your departure to assure your reservation.
