An early morning transfer from our hotel to the railway station for the three hour ride which has been described as one of the most spectacular rail journeys in the world. The train climbs out of Cusco to a high plateau before following the Urubamba river down into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From here it is drawn into the narrow, deep Urubamba gorge, surrounded by sheer mountains and thick forest.

Itinerary Inca Trail private hike (2 days - 1 night)

Day 1 Cusco - Km.104 ? Winay Wayna -Machu Picchu

We begin our walk at Km.104 by crossing the Vilcanota/Urubamba river. We climb away from the river, along an Inca highway, through luxuriant vegetation which is home to hundreds of endemic species of birds and orchids, emerging from the cloud forest at Winay Wayna.

Winay Wayna is one of the most beautiful Inca sites in the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary. We continue to Intipunku (The Sun Gate) from where we will get our first view of Machu Picchu. Here the final stretch of the royal highway takes us into the citadel itself, covered for four centuries by forest and now laid out before us.

Our trek finishes when we arrive at the Machu Pichu Sanctuary. From there a bus will bring us to the town of Machu Picchu Pueblo (formerly known as Aguas Calientes) where we will spend the night in our selected hotel.

Day 2 - guided visit Machu Picchu. Return to Cusco

An Early rise will give us ample time to start our guided visit of the Machu Pichu citadel. After the guided tour which will last for approximately three hours there is enough time to dicover the ruins by ourselves.
In the afternoon we descend to the train station where the train will be awaiting to bring us back to Cusco.

In the afternoon we will return by train to Cusco.
